Xtellus Appoints Respected Industry Veterans to Key Posts
Morris Plains, NJ, July 27, 2005
Xtellus, a leading supplier of reconfigurable optical networking solutions, announced today several organizational changes at the company.
Mr. Thomas Dudley joins Xtellus as president and Chief Executive Officer, replacing Dr. Gil Cohen, a founding member of Xtellus, who assumes the role of Chief Technology Officer and Vice President Business Development. Mr. Dudley takes over at a key time when Xtellus is poised to take advantage of a resurgent optical networking market that is underpinned by reconfigurable architectures. Bringing over twenty-two years of experience in the optoelectronics industry to Xtellus, Mr. Dudley's previous positions include Manager of Lucent's SONET/SDH optical component business and VP Marketing & Business Development at CoreTek where he was responsible for the company's sale to Nortel Networks for $1.5B and subsequently joined Nortel's Leadership Team. Most recently he has served as a board member on several private companies and consulted on the sale of TriQuint's Optoelectronic division.
Mr. Dudley commented on the announcement, "I am very pleased to be aboard Xtellus. The team is superb, we have a world class fabrication facility in Korea, the company has solid customer traction and we are backed by committed investors willing to support a bold strategy."
Mr. Dudley was also appointed to the Board of Directors along with Dr. Gerry Fine, a seasoned industry veteran and former President of Corning's Optical Component group. Under Dr. Fine's leadership, the Corning Optical Division grew to over one billion dollars in sales and became the leading supplier of reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexing solutions. Mr. Dudley commented, "Dr. Fine has extensive knowledge of the optical networking business and his strategic vision will be extremely valuable as we position Xtellus to be the number one or two provider of R-OADM solutions."
Dr. Gil Cohen added, "On behalf of the founding team and our investors, we are very gratified to have been able to attract and welcome two of the most respected individuals in the optoelectronics business to Xtellus. Their experience and knowledge of the business augurs well for the growth and future success of the company."
