Xtellus Moves to New Headquarters Geared for Manufacturing

Morris Plains, NJ. - Xtellus, a maker of dynamic optical modules and components for reconfigurable optical networks, has moved its headquarters to a new location in Morris Plains, NJ. This location houses the company's product engineering, manufacturing and market-facing business functions. Xtellus also has an R&D lab in Israel.

Gil Cohen, Xtellus' President and CEO, explained, "The actual move took place at the end of the summer and for the past few months we have been installing our product packaging line which is now operational. We also installed equipment that will enable us to do most product qualification testing ourselves.

"We feel strongly that performing manufacturing and qualification in-house provides us time, quality and even cost advantages over using third-party houses for these functions. This is particularly so because the types of product we build like our Dynamic Blocker Equalizer are fairly unique so it is difficult to find a manufacturer who has the relevant experience.

"The Morris Plains facility will also be the focus for our marketing, sales and technical support activities."

The first product that Xtellus is manufacturing in its New Jersey facility is its Dynamic Blocker Equalizer. This is available in C and L bands at both 50 GHz and 100 GHz spacing. The Dynamic Blocker Equalizer is a module that is being recognized as a key building block for multiple optical networking applications including reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexers, optical cross-connects and channelized dynamic gain equalizers.
